Cole Albert Porter (1891 – 1964) was an American composer and lyricist noted for his witty, urbane, and sophisticated lyrics. He who wrote extensively for Broadway and, to a lesser extent, Hollywood. His musicals include Fifty Million Frenchmen (1929), Anything Goes (1934), Kiss Me Kate (1948), Can-Can (1953), Silk Stockings (1955), and High Society (1956).
