The "Golden Age" of musical theatre (roughly 1943 – 1965) boasts some of the most memorable performances in American history. Students will rehearse vignettes featuring dramatic songs and monologues from musicals including Once Upon a Mattress, The Music Man, Hello, Dolly and Gypsy. Possible songs include “Goodnight My Someone”, “Getting to Know You”, “Adelaide’s Lament”, “Anything You Can Do”, and “Always True to You (In My Fashion)”

At the Musical Theatre Sampler Camp, each student receives a “tool kit” of songs and monologues from which to draw for auditions and performances. Each day begins with a physical and vocal warm up, followed by learning songs and monologues according to the week’s theme. Each student will learn and perform one group song, one gender-appropriate group song, one solo song and two monologues. Students will also learn from “master performers” in listening and viewing sessions. Each camp culminates in a dress rehearsal and final performance of all music and acting studied during the week.
