World-renowned double bassist Edgar Meyer and mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile join forces for a diverse evening of original music at The Shedd Institute's Jaqua Concert Hall Saturday, October 4th. Both artists are no stranger to Eugene -- Meyer through his multiple appearances at The Shedd Institute over the years and Thile with his former band, Nickel Creek. An artist with extraordinary, effortless range, Mr. Meyer is as comfortable with Bluegrass as he is with Bach. He teaches at the Curtis Institute and is a frequent guest at Portland's Chamber Music Northwest. Mr. Thile is recognized widely as possibly the best mandolinist of all time. Following a successful run with Nickel Creek and several solo efforts, he is currently leader of The Punch Brothers, which immediately established itself as an important new voice or extraordinary potential.
