Carmichael montage
Star Dust
Hoagy Camichael & Friends
Thu, Aug 7, 2:00 - 3:15 pm
Jaqua Concert Hall, The Shedd Institute
Broadway Pearl District
Matinee Series Title Sponsor
This afternoon's concert concentrates on the career of Hoagy Carmichael, a composer/performer whose persona and music embodied a certain Midwestern sensibility and straight-forward quality that was a refreshing contrast to the sleek Hollywood system he wound up working for. Ken and company will also explore the very profound influence that the great Bix Beiderbecke's music and friendship had on Hoagy Carmichael, in some very surprising ways.
Look for all the Hoagy greats: "Riverboat Shuffle", "Star Dust", "The Nearness Of You", "Skylark", "Georgia On My Mind" and more!
