Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Johnny Mercer Songbook (1964), was the final album in the Verve Fitzgerald Songbook series and her final Verve project with arranger conductor Nelson Riddle. As the liner notes themselves note, this project was unique in the series, as it was the only one to honor the work of a lyricist rather than a composer.
Clairdee and Bill Hulings take on 9 of the songs from this 12-song project, plus two more from Sinatra's list, and Ken and the guys, open up on a couple more.
