Victor Wooten
Fri, Feb 15, 7:30 - 9:00 pm
Jaqua Concert Hall, The Shedd Institute
Regaled as the most influential bassist since Jaco Pastorius, Victor is known for his solo recordings and tours, and as a member of the Grammy-winning supergroup, Béla Fleck & The Flecktones. He is an innovator on the bass guitar, as well as a talented composer, arranger, producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. But those gifts only begin to tell the tale of this Tennessee titan.
He is highly regarded among his musical peers for his extraordinary technical virtuosity and his skills as musician and composer. Wooten has won the "Bass Player of the Year" award from Bass Player Magazine three times in a row, and was the first person to win the award more than once.
In keeping with the ongoing philosophy of genre-bending eclecticism that has driven all his solo work, Victor embraces a range of styles - jazz, funk, soul, pop, gospel, world music and more - and Victor’s played with a diverse list of guests including Mike Stern, Richard Bona, and Keb Mo'. Wooten's legions of devoted fans hail from all walks of life and all corners of the globe, yet share a common affinity for artistic diversity.
