“A jazz singer of cool poise and effervescent style.” – Nate Chinen
“A serious jazz artist who takes the whole enterprise to another level.” – The New York Times
Tierney Sutton returns to the Jaqua Concert Hall on tour with her band in support of their new CD, The Sting Variations. Christian Jacob is on piano, Kevin Axt on bass, and Ray Brinker on drums.
With a voice The New York Times calls “as pure and sparkling as mountain spring water,” Tierney Sutton celebrates the American Songbook with traditional folk songs, Broadway melodies, Gershwin highlights and songs from Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story – music she documented on her GRAMMY-nominated 2011 release, American Road. An Omaha native, Sutton found her footing as a singer and bandleader shortly after arriving in her adopted home of Los Angeles in the mid 1990s, where she’s led one of the most durable working bands in jazz for the last two decades.
