Beginning Social Ballroom Dance is an introduction to partner dancing in a range of ballroom styles so that you can dance the waltz, two-step or foxtrot at a wedding or get confident in moving into cha-cha, jitterbug swing and more! The class will provide a level of understanding that will enable students to attend local social dances and participate with ease. Students can enroll with or without a dancing partner.
Wear comfortable clothing that does not bind up or restrict movement and shoes suitable for dancing.
This eleven-week class provides an introduction to social partner dancing in a range of ballroom styles. Specifically for those who have never done ballroom before, never done any partnered dancing at all, or for those who have shuffled left-foot-right-foot at a wedding or two. This class will provide a level of understanding that will enable students to attend local social dances and participate with ease. Students can enroll with or without a dancing partner - partners will rotate during the class.
This class will teach you:
- -- Frame, connection, lead/follow and the non-verbal communication that enables partner dancing
- -- Etiquette, floor safety and awareness, and fundamentals of social dancing with anyone, anywhere
- -- Foxtrot, Jitterbug Swing, Night Club Two Step, Waltz, American, Tango, Cha-Cha, Rhumba, Salsa, Blues and more!
The class will work at the pace of the students so that no one will be left behind, and everyone will gain understanding of basic ballroom principles and terminology. The number of different dance styles covered will vary based on the students - we'll work faster or slower as needed.
