Marty Chilla and two of his bands, Concrete Loveseat and Strange Desserts celebrate his birthday with a benefit concert for the World Vision missions of longtime friend, philanthropist, and world health activist Dr. John Haines.
The concert is preceded by "A Night For Sight" Benefit Gala Dinner, which includes a concert ticket in the price (see Associate Events below right).
Originally beginning as a simple duo and some nostalgic reverie, Concrete Loveseat is now a vibrant band of seven with a big sound to match. Living in the Willamette Valley in Oregon, Concrete Loveseat breathes fresh air into American jazz standards and sprinkles in a mix of original material and inspiration from a more global sound (think French, Portuguese, gypsy, Spanish...they leave nothing untouched). They move effortlessly from vigorous and gripping high energy pieces to delicately nuanced ballads. Concrete Loveseat is Cynthia Valentine ~ vocals, Marty Chilla ~ rhythm guitar, Austin Bowles ~ piano, Daniel Gallo ~ guitar, Bob Schlichting ~ bass, Beau Eastlund ~ drums, Rick Cobian, percussion, and Paul Biondi ~ winds.
Strange Desserts is Marty Chilla, John Haines, and Michael Leeds.
