Calling all mariachis! Join Fernell López and other middle and high school violinists, guitarists, trumpet players and singers to participate Eugene’s Mariachi del Shedd. Adventurous players can try out the unique fretless bass-line guitarrón and higher-pitched vihuela too. These instruments are available to rent for those interested in trying something new. The class will meet on Tuesday evenings with select sectionals on Friday evenings to help hone their craft. The group will learn traditional mariachi song forms, such as the bolero, canción, ranchera, son, huapango, and danzón, and favorite songs, such as, “El Rey”, “De Colores”, “Volver” and more.
