A year-long course, Beginning Guitar focuses on guitar fundamentals. Tuning, chord fingering, strumming patterns, right and left hand technique and beginning note reading are all covered. Enjoy learning melodies and accompaniments that can be applied to any musical style. An inclusive and encouraging group atmosphere sets the stage for learning & fun!
During Term 2, students will continue learning the guitar fundamentals introduced during Term 1: the basics of acoustic and electric guitar, including left and right hand techniques, tuning, making chords, and note reading. An introduction to intervals and other music theory is also taught. Students will play melodies and accompaniments that can be applied to any musical style.
Students can join any term of Beginning Guitar. Often students entering a class will take a private lesson or two with the instructor to catch up or fill in knowledge gaps before joining mid-year.
Acoustic guitars are available for rent from The Shedd.
