It's All Right With Me
The Songs & Style of Ella Fitzgeraldd
Fri, Feb 7, 7:30 - 9:30 pm
Austin Auditorium, LaSells
She has been given the names: “The first lady of song,” “queen of jazz,” and “Lady Ella.” She was known for her clarity of tone, impeccable diction, operatic vocal range, exceptional phrasing, and “horn-like” scat singing improvisations. Of course we are describing none other than Ella Fitzgerald. From her beginnings with the Chick Webb Orchestra, to her time spent in the clubs of New York, to the unforgettable musical moments of the Jazz At the Philharmonic concerts, to the beauty of her Songbook recordings; Ella always delivered nothing less than stunning performances. In this series we will traverse her career and pay homage to one of the greatest jazz vocalists of all time. Look for Ella classics like "It's All Right With Me", "A Tisket, A Tasket", "How High The Moon", "Night And Day", "Cheek To Cheek", and "The Very Thought Of You".
