Local favorite, Eugene-based pianist Victor Steinhardt and New York-based Guarneri String Quartet leader Arnold Steinhardt open the 2003-04 American Symphonia season with a program of all-American works for violin and piano. The brothers will perform works by Leonard Bernstein (Sonata for violin and piano, 1939), Amy Beach (Three pieces, Op. 40, 1898), Aaron Copland (Nocturne, 1928), Robert Russell Bennett (Hexapoda: Five Studies in Jitteroptera, 1941), Henry Thacker Burleigh (Southland Sketches, 1916), and Lukas Foss (Three American Pieces, 1944-45), as well as Victor Steinhardt’s Sonata Boogie (1986).
