Climb on board and explore the music of the stars, moon, sun, planets and aliens in the Shedd’s SongFest, Outer Space! From the classic “Shine on Harvest Moon” to the Rat Pack’s “Come Fly with Me”, to old favorites like “When You Wish Upon a Star”, “Catch A Falling Star”, and “You Are My Sunshine”, students will learn songs and play instruments like the ukulele, trumpet, keyboard, violin, and more to make out-of-this-world music! Every afternoon, kids will hear and see how stargazing worked their way into American folktales and the students will get to make crafts all about outer space to take home at the end of camp. Participants will perform a final show with the songs, dances and sets they create!
Outer Space is the 4th of 4 summer camps offer by The Shedd Institute as a part of its 2019
Summer SongFest program for kids.

Each morning begins with a “warm up”, followed by learning the songs for the week’s theme. They will then get to learn about and play an instrument that has to do with the week’s theme. After a snack the campers will either get a chance to make their very own instrument or get dance instruction based on the theme. The campers end the day with a song circle to prepare them for their performance on Friday:
