SHIRLEY ANDRESS (Amalia Balash) is a homegrown Oregon gal! She received her degree in Music Education from the University of Oregon and teaches voice out of her own private studio. Shirley has appeared with numerous arts groups in Eugene and surrounding areas including LCC, VLT, EFMT, Eugene Concert Choir, Radio Redux, Oregon Cabaret Theater, and Lakewood Theater. She performs, most extensively, with The Shedd Institute of the Arts. She is a founding member, lead vocalist, and regular guest artistic director for the Emerald City Jazz Kings. She is the creator of two recent one-woman shows, Fever, Remembering Peggy Lee and Bon Soir, Barbra Streisand 1960-64 and will sing 28 songs February 29th and March 1st for her next project at The Shedd, My Name Is Barbra, The Making of a Funny Girl. She has been a frequent vocalist with the Oregon Festival of American Music since 1996 performing with Dick Hyman, Ken Peplowski and Jesse Cloninger. Her passion is for musical theater and she has played lead roles in Peter Pan, How To Succeed In Business, Fiddler On The Roof, Crazy For You, My Fair Lady, Annie Get Your Gun, South Pacific, Oklahoma!, Kiss Me Kate, White Christmas, The Sound Of Music, The King And I, The Music Man, Mary Poppins, Gypsy, Guys And Dolls and most recently Grace in Annie.
