For their 2020-21 season, the Emerald City Jazz Kings present another great year of historic jazz and popular music. They start off the season with Diga Diga Doo, a tribute to legendary Classic Songbook lyricist Dorothy Fields. In December our Jazz Kings Christmas welcomes Shirley Andress back at the helfor All Is BrightWhat Will Be Will Be.
NOTE: Our 2020-21 February show, I'm Glad There Is Yo/b>, has been moved the opening spot of our 2021-22 season this coming October. Led by long-time Jazz Kings trombonist Glenn Griffith, the show explores two phenomenal vocal stylists, Johnny Hartman and Lena Horne.
The Emerald City Jazz Kings is the resident jazz & classic American Songbook ensemble of The John G. Shedd Institute for the Arts. The Jazz Kings produce 4 original concerts each year on various themes pertinent to the historic popular music and jazz of the 1920s through ‘50s, with performances in Eugene at The Shedd, and in Roseburg and Corvallis in normal (non-COVID) times.
