Shedd Theatricals 2021 presents 2 classic musicals: We begin the season Sep 17-26 with a truly classic musical comedy: In 1954, the year before Richard Adler, Jerry Ross and George Abbott created Damn Yankees, they teamed up with Richard Bissell on The Pajama Game, a fun-filled contemplation on the human dynamics of labor union politics based on Bissell's 1953 novel 7½ Cents that features such gold standards as "Hernando's Hideaway" and "Steam Heat".
And we close the season December 3-19 with the new Broadway stage adaptation of Irving Berlin's lovely World War II era film musical Holiday Inn starring Bing Crosby and Fred Astair. Look for a host of Berlin classics, both from the original film and a few added gems, including “Blue Skies,” "Shaking The Blues Away", “Easter Parade,” “Steppin’ Out With My Baby,” “Heat Wave,” "Be Careful, It's My Heart", "Happy Holiday", and “White Christmas”!
Both fully-staged productions feature a live orchestra.
