Is it possible to celebrate the music of 1930s America without dedicating a show to The King of Swing? Thinking not, Chuck Redd and his festival jazz unit let loose on an evening of pure Benny Goodman, with a bit of everything from those years,
Air Mail Special is one of 6 OFAM 2022 concerts presented twice:
Evening: Fri, July 29, 7:30 pm
Matinee: Fri, Aug 5, 1:30 pm
from his early years as a bandleader in the late '20s and early '30s to his 6 month stint in 1935 with the short-lived radio program Let's Dance and association with Fletcher Henderson and his ultimate breakout success at the Palomar Ballroom in August 1935, to his legendary Carnegie Hall concert January 16, 1938.
