OFAM 2018 overview

Oregon Festival of American Music 2018 continues last year's celebration of the giants of the Classic Songbook with a set of more personal tributes to those creators and practitioners of the Songbook and its related genres who have had the most impact on us in the course of our own careers. "Who, we asked, have been our muses? Which songwriters and practitioners of the Great American Songbook in all its forms and of jazz have had the most influence on us?" Chuck Redd, Byron Stripling, Siri Vik, Ted Rosenthal, Vicki Brabham, and Michael Stone are joined by a fine company of colleagues as they offer up their own answers to these question over 2 weeks of concerts, talks, films and special events. What they've come up with is a fascinating assortment of both the obvious and not-so-obvious, ranging from composers George Gershwin and Frank Loesser to legendary practitioners Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, Louis Armstrong, Lionel Hampton, Edith Piaf, Sidney Bechet, Bessie Smith, Muddy Waters, and more!
Oregon Festival of American Music 2018 includes 9 evening and 5 matinee concerts, a jazz party, an all-new production of Frank Loesser's 1950 masterpiece, Guys And Dolls, films, lectures and community events.
Tickets are on sale in early March at The Shedd Institute Ticket Office at 541-434-7000 or 868 High Street, MF 9-6 pm and Sat 9-noon. Ask about our OFAM 2018 package discounts!!
