Festival Lecture Series
Bing Crosby
Fri Aug 9, 5:00-6:00 pm
Sheffer Recital Hall, The Shedd Institute
  • Description
If any single entertainer represents the spirit of 1930s-40s American culture, it was Bing Crosby. His voice ubiquitous, his calm, bemused demeanor the salve of an age, Crosby was not only the voice of an age, he was it's role model and, well, in a sense its conscience. And, of course, that aside, he reinvented crooning, setting a standard for vocal delivery still with us today.
Shedd Executive Director Jim Ralph surveys Crosby's career from his early days with The Rhythm Boys, with a special emphasis on his definitive work in the 1930s and '40s.
