  • Description
In this somewhat marginal backstage comedy, the member of a New York City vaudeville troupe inherits property in Las Vegas and, upon arrival, is thrown in jail for bringing livestock into Nevada without a license. THe livestock consists of a crate of pigeons---trained birds with which one of the girls does her variation of a fan dance. Upon release, they learn the property is a ramshackle building, but decide to make a nightclub out of it. Hitting the jackpot in one of the casinos provides the needed money...but many, many complications ensue. The film is a reasonable hoot that further justifies its command on our attentions by a huge selection of great songs and Swing standards like "Cocktails For Two", "Shadow Waltz", "Song of India", "I'll Never Smile Again", and "The Trombone Man Is The Best Man In The Land" written by the likes of Frank Loesser, Harry Warren, Ned Washington, and Burton Lane and delivered in grat style by Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra fronted by, among others, The Pied Pipers, Connie Haines, and Frank Sinatra in his first film appearance.
