The first of two films which starred Piaf during WWII (the second being 1946's Étoile sans lumière, Montmartre-sur-Seine is a simple melodrama of fraught love among Montmartre artisans/performers…Marics loves Juliet, Michael loves lily, Claude comes along and messes things up. The film features Piaf singing four songs composed by Marguerite Monnot with lyrics by Piaf herself.
